In Memory of Alberta Oduraa Quartey
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that the Project Management Institute (PMI) Ghana Chapter gathers to pay tribute to a beloved member and dedicated volunteer, Alberta Oduraa Quartey. As we reflect on the tragic loss of a bright star in our community, we find ourselves grappling with the reality that Death, the passive stakeholder, has had an unforeseen impact on our promising project.
Alberta Oduraa Quartey was not merely a name on our roster; she was the embodiment of passion, commitment, and unwavering enthusiasm for the principles of project management. Her journey with us began as a member, and her deep-seated drive for excellence and continuous learning soon saw her step into the role of a volunteer. Alberta’s dedication was a testament to her belief in the power of collaboration and the transformational potential of project management practices. As a volunteer managing the Twitter account of the chapter, Oduraa would always come up with suggestions and ideas on how to share on our social media platforms based on trends, in order to achieve the maximum impact. Whenever Oduraa was assigned a task, especially the ones that she isn’t familiar with, she would never say shecouldn’t do it but would rather accept it and ask for guidance.
On the 18th of July, 2023, our hearts shattered as we received the devastating news of Alberta’s passing in a ghastly accident in the United States of America. In the midst of our grief, we are reminded of the valuable contributions she made, not just to our chapter, but to the entire profession. Her passion for project management was contagious, and her willingness to share knowledge and mentor others left an indelible mark on all those she touched.
Alberta’s involvement in the PMI Ghana Chapter was a beacon of hope for our Social Media presence and and the Chapter’s awareness prowess. She saw the beauty of projects not just as objectives to be met but as opportunities to bring people together, to shape the future, and to create lasting impact. Her warmth, her words of encouragement, and her dedication to our shared mission served as the adhesive that bound us all together.
As we mourn Alberta’s loss, we also honour her memory by vowing to carry forward her legacy. We will continue to embrace her spirit of collaboration, her thirst for knowledge, and her unyielding commitment to excellence. She has left us a legacy that reminds us that our projects are not merely a collection of tasks and milestones; they are a testament to the human spirit, the relentless pursuit of betterment, and the triumph over challenges.
Alberta Oduraa Quartey’s departure has left an indescribable void within our chapter, but we take solace in the fact that her spirit will forever guide our path. She may have left this world far too soon, but the impact of her contributions will echo through our endeavours, our actions, and the lives she touched.
In memory of Alberta Oduraa Quartey, let us forge ahead with renewed determination, united in our pursuit of project excellence and our dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.
Rest in peace, dear Oduraa, knowing that your legacy lives on through the work we do, the projects we undertake, and the lives we impact.
