My Dear IPP,
Greetings from somewhere between Buipe and Tamale with “your squad”. You may be wondering how…, but I think you ever brought this website idea, probably had me in mind. I have been looking for an opportunity and the medium to pour my thought about Super OD and I think this platform provided solution for the two.
“My daughter”, anyone who has ever interacted with you certainly know how much proud you are of your babies. In your own words, among all that you have achieved, none can be compared to raising of your children. I wasn’t an ecxeption as I have heard you mentioned their names severally especially Oduraa. Initially I thought it was because she was a volunteer under the outreach Portfolio but I later realised it was a special admiration you have for her. I recall how vividly you kept repeating her feedback on the new PMI branding and symbols. Well, they truly deserve it.
My curiosity couldn’t let me be but evoked an anxious expectations of meeting Oduraa someday. It became an obsession that during the 2019 end of year dinner, I mistook someone for her and chatted with the person for a whole 30mins before realising she was not the one. The disappointment was so visious that the lady noticed it… but did I care? Not all, mainly because I have more time to continue creating my own Oduraa in my mind. Hahahhahaa (in Oduraa’s resounding laughter).
Madam President, guess what, the day finally came and I met Oduraa but I was surprised to see three girls, fortunately I knew one (you of course) so I had to figure out who Oduraa was between the rest two. I looked into the crystal ball and voila, one was wearing the volunteer T shirt the following day. Permit me to keep my first impression of her because that’s the one thing that lasted with me till now and may be into the future.
“Uncle Larry”, was how she addressed me the first time. You already know my reaction so I wouldn’t dwell on it much. The thought behind that reaction was “giiirrll, I am still a young blood and searching, you have no idea how much I have dreamt of meeting you, only for you to uncle zone me?” A big brother zoning would have given me some hope. Your swift defense was an epic one because I didn’t expect it and it was the sweetest thing I saw witnessed that day.
Despite my thought with its reaction, I had so much respect for her. For a gen Z not to address someone by their first name, was a amazing especially in an era where even organisations are promoting a culture of people being called by their first names regardless of their age and position. I am a early days millennial raised in a patriarch home so you can imagine. It was a food to my inner soul that we still have hope for the future generations…. It seems the network ahead isn’t too good so let me end here for now… Expect my second letter soon.
Brigid’s Dad.
